2021 - 2023
A bespoke research method which has never been used in the field of blood cancer before has now been made possible following vital funding from blood cancer research charity, Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK (LMRUK).
2020 - 2022
A Developmental Grant has been funded to support studies to understand if it is possible to stop liver cancer cells using glucose as an energy source and therefore prevent cancer to develop.
The award is run together with Dr Bubici from Brunel University London and Professor Mann from Newcastle University

A Project Grant has been funded to support studies to understand the mechanism of liver regeneration .

2018 - 2021
A Project Grant has been funded to support studies aimed at the identification of novel agents to make myeloma cells more sensitive to proteasome inhibitors, and open up the benefits of proteasome inhibitors to more patients.
The award is run together with Dr Bubici from Brunel University London and Professor Tooze from University of Leeds
University of Leeds PhD studentship
2016 - 2019
A PhD Studentship has been granted to Dr Papa's group from the Leeds Institute of Cancer Pathology to supervise a post-graduate researcher to carry our studies aimed at the understanding of the molecular mechanisms regulating JNK-mediated proliferation and survival of cancer cells
2013 - 2016
A Project Grant was awarded to Dr Papa group to carry out their research on the molecular development of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma at the Institute of Hepatology London.
The award included also a named AMMF Research Fellowship to Dr Gemma Choy to carry out her work in Dr Papa's laboratory.
2011 - 2016
The Foundation for Liver Research sponsored Dr Papa's work while leading the Cell Signalling and Cancer Group at the Institute of Hepatology London. This involved funding for post-doc salary and a PhD studentship at Birkbeck University of London
2010
Dr Papa was awarded a Wellcome Trust - Value in People (VIP) Award while at Imperial College London. VIP awards are made based on the quality of the applicant and project.
2009 - 2010
Dr Papa was awarded the AIRC Start-up grant, a very prestigious and competitive award to enable young researchers (under 35) with solid background and strong curriculum returning home from a foreign country to support cancer research studies.
